Yeasayer – Henrietta

Sunday, October 14th, 2012

I’ve listened to this song many times but I still think of “Disparate Youth” by Santigold for the first 30 seconds. This song is nothing like that song though. It’s a huge soundscape that evolves from a vibrant, dynamic strain to a slow, heartbeat-like ballad. All-in-all, it needs to be listened to from start to finish at least a couple times and I promise you will be yelling along with it “OHHHHHH HENNNNNNRIETTA” like I do pretty frequently. It’s been tough for me to get into Yeasayer in the past, and apparently they are better enjoyed while you are high, but that is unfair. I’m sure they are making this music for everyone to listen to and enjoy and their newest release “Fragrant World” is full of some awesome tracks that will keep you entertained for many, many plays.
