How Sad – Indian Summer

Tuesday, July 30th, 2013

Haunting!!! Like the hallucinations brought about by an Indian Summer! Those pianos…that horn…the drums.  To state the obvious, it’s a cookie cutter flowery, summer, indie jam and you know you love it! We’re suffering from a terrible summer here in Los Angeles (mid-70’s) so it’s nice to play this on repeat and dream of being hugged by a heatwave that I most definitely will hate exactly one day after it rolls in. These guys have their debut EP coming out in August and are making some waves on the blogosphere, so jump on the train right when it is taking off. Go be a fan of them on Facebook and be one of an exclusive group of around 600!

Enjoy your Indian Summer!

St. Lucia – Elevate

Saturday, July 27th, 2013

Holy electro-indie, Batman! St. Lucia is the dreamy pop outfit of Jean-Philip Grobler. He also got his start the same way I did, in boy’s choir. He will completely sweep you off your feet with his newest single “Elevate” the first of (hopefully) many singles coming off his upcoming LP which will be titled “When the Night” and releasing on October 8th. If this guy wasn’t already on your radar, get him and keep him on there because if he doesn’t grab your attention with his catchy original songs, he’ll hit you with his dank remixes, like this one by Passion Pit.

Enjoy!

Small Black – No Stranger

Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013

I’m back!!!!! Wow, I dropped off this for far too long. So much music missed, but I am here to deliver! Small Black came onto my radar around ’09 and very few do dreamy pop better than these guys. Liken them to a little bit of Washed Out with the upbeat tempo of Delorean. The textures in this song are so great and the drums give it such a great coastal vibe. This lovely little song about love at first sight might just be the song to set off your summer on the right foot!

Enjoy!
