LRDC’s Favorite 100 Songs This Year 2016

Thursday, December 15th, 2016

This is it guys, the end of year lists have been coming at us from all sides. Unlike most “Best Songs” lists at the end of the year, I have compiled my favorite songs from my LRDC lists and around the blogosphere. I’m not here to present this list saying these are the best songs of the year, but these are the songs that got the most playtime this year. These songs really stuck and I hope that you enjoy them as much as I have.

Chet Faker – 1998

Friday, June 20th, 2014

This.Guy.Is.Going.Places! Think of an upbeat Tycho with vox and this is exactly what this song is. This is easily one of my favorite songs right now. Crisp drums, hard hitting synth in a lower BPM, distorted lyrics…what else do you need. Chet Faker (né Nicholas James Murphy) hails from Melbourne, Aus and he certainly won’t be staying there for long. His debut LP came out in mid-April, so you should definitely grab that as I am sure he will become big very soon.

The New Division – Shallow Play

Sunday, January 20th, 2013

This band is just great. They draw influences from Joy Division and New Order (hence the name?). They really keep to their influences but they somehow have their own sound and unique feel. It’s the kind of 80’s feel that we get from M83 but it’s so much better than a whole lot of stuff coming from the 80’s. Everyone can and should enjoy this track and even more so because these guys pretty much remain unknown. Share this with your friends and get the dance party started!
