LRDC This Week New Music Playlist 6/14/16

Tuesday, June 14th, 2016

While starting a new job, I surprisingly was still able to find some new music to assemble in a list for y’all. Starting off with a bang, we have a really original track from Local Natives that really doens’t sound like anything they have put out before. Very exciting. Moving on to new Angel Olsen as well that swells with such intensity like only she can. “Still gotta wake up and be someone” basically summed up my entire Tuesday, so I have enjoyed this track solely based upon that line…and then some.

Vince Staples has been killing the game, and with the wondrous jams of Clams Casino, one can do no wrong. Hard hitting rhymes killin’ it!

Dâm-Funk? DAMN FUNK! Sounds like something out of the 80’s and there is nothing wrong with that! It’s so infectious and I actually never want it to stop. This new album from this artist will certainly be much anticipated by yours truly!

Jumping towards the end of the list we have two new tracks from newly released albums, one being from Peter Bjorn & John’s “Breakin’ Point” and the next being from veterans  Garbage’s “Strange Little Birds”. The former being a glitchy dancy track and the latter being hard, proggy track that can rival any NIN track. These peeps definitely got it dialed in and this album is complete proof of that. I can’t get enough of it.

Enjoy,

Greg

LRDC #THIS Week New Music Playlist 5/3/16

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016

Happy Tuesday! Let’s get on with some new music!

The first track struck me immediately. It’s from a band called Darling James and it’s infectious as hell. Take a bit of Miike Snow mixed with a little bit of Tame Impala and Passion Pit and you have “The Itch.” There is so much to love, except for the fact that the band only has two songs on Spotify. I’m stoked for more. Jumping into the next song, we have an up-and-coming solo act called Thai Mason with a stellar track called “Look Up.” This cat has some great flow and he reminds me of a slower, chiller Dizzee Rascal.

Skipping a bit ahead, you’ll see a song by Operators, and if you remember them from the last time I featured them, I’m guessing you are as hooked as I am. This song is glitchy and sonorous, with a heavy, driving beat. Check out the rest of their album as well, because seriously, they’re all as good as “Control.” Going ahead to a song by Manuel Darquart, it shouldn’t be any wonder why I included this on my list. Funky & heavy on the synth? That’s made for LRDC. This New Zealand electro-duo just slay, so keep you ears and eyes on them.

Ending on a high note, I have a song by White Balance that may not be new, but chances are you may have missed it like I did. This song has playful chimes resonating behind some simple drums with cute vocals and with this, these Finns stole my heart. What a great way to end out another stellar week of great music.

Enjoy!

LRDC #THIS Week New Music Playlist 4/26/16

Tuesday, April 26th, 2016

It’s that time of the week again, guys. Another batch of some fresh jams for your listening pleasure. We’ll kick this week off in style with a sick, easily-replayable track from Frenship and Emily Warren called “Capsize.” The vibes don’t really quit as we go on to “Graduate” by solo act Handsome Ghost. From here, we’ll let the chillness set in as we go to a track that reminds me so much of CHVRCHES, but it’s actually from Bostonites Contact, but they do have the same equation when it comes to band members (1 female lead & 2 male).

Skipping ahead a bit, we have a song that really stuck with me this week. This track happens to be from a young, Texan, solo artist called BRYCE. After that, we have a song from Sébastien Tellier’s soundtrack for a little French film titled “Marie and the Misfits.” The song I chose is bouncy and funky and actually seems like it would be difficult to integrate into the movie itself, so now I really want to see the movie to experience the music take shape!

Now…I’m excited to announce that Band of Horses released a new song yesterday. This is a very important band to me and I can say their new song, “Casual Party”, has the same feeling that I’ve grown fond to with BOH’s music.

If you’ve followed along for a bit, you know I like to finish these playlists off strong. Well this week is no exception and we have an entrancing track from Nite Jewel that fills your ears with whispy synth and airy vocals fading in and out. Then the big guns come out with a new collab track between Flume & Tove Lo that actually slays your ears. It’s straight jams and everything that we have come to expect from Flume. No doubt this will get some solid airtime on radio stations and in da club, so remember who told you about this (unless you’ve already heard it, forget them, haha).

Enjoy!
